Gallon Smashing Gets 2 Arrested *Update*

Pinellas County, Clearwater, FL – On Saturday, police were called to Publix at 1295 S Missouri Ave in Pinellas County, where management claims two males were pretending to slip and smash open gallons of milk and orange juice.
This is not the first time this stunt was pulled by the two. They also recorded themselves doing the same stunts at another Publix location not too far away, which is how they were caught.
What the two did was called “Gallon Smashing”, a new “fad” to hit the Youtube and other video spots, where people will record themselves pretending to slip while holding a gallon of milk or orange juice, and smash them on the ground in hopes of busting them open. The ones who record these videos claim they are entertainment and comedy. But there is nothing funny about vandalism.
Nicholas Nye, age 18, and Jason Bonvie, age 18, were caught by management and were forced to clean up the mess they made and were arrested and taken to the Pinellas County Sheriffs Office. Authorities have stated that “Gallon Smashing” is a crime and whomever is caught doing this, can be charged with vandalism and theft among other charges. But the only charges made by Publix was Criminal Mischief.
When asked why they were going around destroying property, they claimed they thought it was funny and they were trying to win a youtube video prank contest to become famous.
Here is a video of what they call “Gallon Smash”.
